After You, by Jojo Moyes

2.0

I did enjoy this book, but in my opinion "me before you" could better have been left as a stand-alone. I really liked where Lou was at the end of "me before you", I liked the idea that she was already moving in the direction of a better space in which she had changed her life and was getting over the loss of Will. This book basically negated the subtext in the last few pages of the first book and put Lou in a sad place in which she could not get over Will and was slipping back into her old life, although she did not move back to her home town. Only the addition of a long-lost daughter of Will's made the story a bit interesting to me. Not because I really wanted Will to have had some daughter he did not know about, but because I enjoyed Lily's character and the dynamic between Lou and Lily. All in all I enjoyed the book, but not as a sequal to "me before you".
