Firefight by Brandon Sanderson

4.0

Fighting Epics is beginning to get much more complicated for young David Charleston. What if the villains the Reckoner's fight are the people who need help the most? David is beginning to think that might be the case, but it presents a huge problem. No one else agrees with him, and trying to help Epics could risk the entire world. The problem is made even more confusing because his heart keeps tugging him to Meghan--one of the Epics he should be fighting.

Brandon Sanderson's writing ability is incredible. Last night I stayed up till two in the morning to finish, even though I had to get up early today. It's the first time I've done that in months. The tension in the last 150 pages made me feel physically stressed! Definitely a story I'll review to try to glean tips for my own writing.

NOTE: Firefight is rated 4 stars instead of 5 because of mild language and the main character's pointed awareness of female's bodies.
