"You want the truth? This is the truth: We picked you from the gutter and gave you a life that you would not have had in a thousand years".

This is it. This is how socialism works. Picking a poor woman for her rich son so that they can have an arranged marriage and they can exploit every chance they have to humiliate her and remind her of her low status.

Afi is a Ghanian woman who lives in Ho with her mother. Life wasn't nice to them when her father passed away. Her uncle kicked them out of their house and they rarely had nice people in their corner. So when her mother was offered the golden opportunity by THE Aunty to marry off her daughter to her rich son, she took it immediately, not knowing that there are ulterior motives and a puppet play behind this.

I love this book so much and teared up at the end because I was rooting for Afi to have her happy ending. 🥺❤️
