Visiting Her in Queens Is More Enlightening Than a Month in a Monastery in Tibet by Michael Mark
5.0
This is a series of poems about an aging mother, as she progresses through the stages of Alzheimer's, with her husband and son revolving around her, drawn into the orbit of a disorder with tragic gravity.
This collection is so well written and moving. Each poem is connected to the others, but also something to be cherished on its own. Reading this broke my heart a little.
One of the best poetry collections I've ever read. Thank you Michael Mark for sharing your love and grief for your wonderful mother with us, and thank you Rattle for sending this chapbook to me. I would recommend all poetry lovers track down this little book from Rattle publishing if you can.
