Daughter of No Worlds by Carissa Broadbent
3.0
look this had some issues
I feel like this book was lacking in world building and just general plot. At no point did it make sense why they were doing like anything that constitutes a fight scene. Half of the time I was literally like why are these mfers on the verge of death?? why are they here?? it didn’t make any sense
the book significantly got better when the whole reshaye thing got involved and that was the most interesting aspect (and it made the relationship btwn the mmc and fmc more interesting too).
the book just sort of sat in the middle the entire time, it was fast paced enough to where I wasn’t bored (and read it in a day) but was lacking in depth in almost every aspect. even emotionally, I feel like these characters would be 10000% more traumatized by like literally anything that happened in this book but instead the next scene after some near death experience is just them being like, well we’ll get them next time our job isn’t done like wdym.
I know we’re gearing up for a war, but I literally am so confused on what tf the point is,,, like can someone tell me why we’re going to war and with whom??? and can someone tell me why I should give a shit that they’re going to a war I know nothing about and that was not adequately set up??
it sits around 2.5 stars but I like to round up. I liked the pacing, the beginning was strong, and I do love a good my brain is not my own plot line (looking at you one dark window).
