The Maze at Windermere by Gregory Blake Smith

3.0

I kept reading this book because every review said it was ambitious and it gets better… reader, it may be written well. It may envelope you with lush descriptions. But boy oh boy, when I finished this book, I just felt MEH overall. And wondered… did I enjoy it?

There are multiple stories across history, playing with themes, with events taking place in the same locations over and over. The author is seemingly weaving a riddle for the reader to figure out… except, I never really felt engaged with the characters.

The main character is truly the location: Newport, RI, and all its charisma; but unfortunately it just didn’t quite feel like it hit the mark.
