I Was a Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones

dark

5.0

I love Stephen Graham Jones' writing.  This had all the right feelings of a slasher! I loved following the killer in slasher novels, but Tolly was such an interesting and unique character to follow.  The twist on the idea of a slasher-killer felt different than any I've read or watch before.  I was instantly hooked from the moment I started reading this.  I loved the fact that this is clearly Tolly writing his version of the story to his best friend at the time.  We get to see his thoughts and experiences from that year, but also little glimpses into the future.  It has such a cheeky writing style that I wasn't sure if this was his journal from the future or if its being told from the afterlife.  We get peeks at what he was thinking then, but also what he's thinking now.  Definitely one to read in the late Summer or early Fall.
