King Lear by William Shakespeare is one of the most iconic of his plays. I don’t think that I can concisely describe the plot because a lot happens over the course of the five acts in this tragedy, so I’m simply not going to try. There is a good amount of scheming, lots of fantastic insults, and death. I’m not going to lie, I was kind of confused for a good portion of this play (I definitely needed to draw myself a character map to track everything), so it took me a hot minute to get through, but I thought it was fine nonetheless. While it was not my favorite of Shakespeare’s works (since A Midsummer Night’s Dream has my heart), this was pretty solid.
