Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

3.0

2.5 stars. I gave it a 3 because I thought the writing and the premise of the story was good and intriguing. However, the progression of the story was dreadfully slow. I kept waiting for something to more to happen, but nothing really ever did. The world was interesting, but characters that started out promising simply fell flat. By the last half of the book I was just waiting for the end so I could write a review and not put it on my DNF list.
Each of the three queens have an interesting life. I enjoyed that triplets had such different personalities but rather than strong protagonists, they were more like victims of their environment. Nothing is wrong with being a victim, but I felt as if the author did not let them grow as characters. They stayed the same throughout the book and I felt they were very one dimensional characters.
Overall, although well written, this book was too slow and boring for me.
