Just the everyday existence on summer vacation. Nothing much happens, for me at least it was all about the vibes. Unfortunately those were discoloured by tons of sex talk, the emotional baggage of some characters relating to miscarriage and unwanted pregnancy, and the effect that this had on the kid protagonists. While these issues made the book realistic, they also clashed with the nostalgic atmosphere.
