I got this book in a book subscription meaning I had no idea about what I was about to read. And boy oh boy was it a mixed bag. First off I was surprised to find out the author is about my mother’s age and thus has very differing life experiences to me or my friends. Then there were the extremely detailed 90s pop culture references that largely flew over my head, to the variety of detail on intimate subjects. Followed by two essays with the most repetitive structure I have ever seen. There are some funny lines in this and I appreciated the candidness of the author, but this was absolutely not for me.
