The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

1.0

This is obviously a minority opinion. I am not a fan of British comedy to begin with (sorry Monty Python), so this book was set up to fail in my eyes. I listened to the Stephen Fry audio book, which may have been part of the issue. All the absurdity was even more absurd when spoken out loud, and it just did not make sense for the first 80% of the book. Eventually, the whole point of the book made sense and there were a few funny parts in the last 20% of the book. There are so many cultural references that have come from this book (digital watches, Deep Thought, 42, babel fish, towels) that it behooves everyone to read it once.
