Escape from the Isle of the Lost by Melissa de la Cruz

1.0

This was awful. Very fragmented and awkward. A lot of it didn’t even make sense! The language was way more juvenile than the first books. I understand that they’re for a young audience, but this one wasn’t in line with the rest of the books at all and seemed to get even younger. Towards the end, I started wondering if there was a mistake with the structure of the book. I thought I was reading a section that was supposed to have happened earlier! It was just really really bad. Felt like the author phoned it in and was just trying to turn *something* in by the deadline. Of course, I thought the second movie was pretty awful too... so maybe the story has just become too convoluted for me. It’ll be interesting to see if the third is any better. For the record, I loved the first book and movie. They were great! I wouldn’t recommend this book though. Skip it and just watch the movie... and cross your fingers that it’s better than the second.
