Before We Were Strangers, by Renée Carlino

5.0

Somebody please tell me why I took so long to read this book?!?

I absolutely loved this story while somehow simultaneously hating it. I want to go in and erase all the bad things and pretend that the 15 years that Matt & Gracie we're apart never happened. I couldn't stomach the things that they endured and won't even begin to imagine the guilt and pain of having to live with the results of a few random decisions and misunderstandings from their past.

The problem is that their situation probably rings more true to life than I ever want to deal with, which is what made this story so good and had me so emotional while reading. I stayed up until 5am to finish this one and have no regrets.
