These Vengeful Souls by Tarun Shanker, Kelly Zekas

medium-paced

2.0

After the events and ending of These Ruthless Deeds, I wasn't overly compelled to finish out the series, but seeing as how I already had this one on my shelf from the library, I went for it.

I needn't have.

It wasn't terrible, but I cared so very little by this point. There were still some excellent quips here and there, though far less than in the previous books, and I still love how they use Mr. Kent's ability to their (occasionally hilarious) advantage. Overall though, it seemed to get bogged down by a variety of new characters
to replace the many we lost at the end of the last book
or too much time spent with side characters in general, a much more somber overall vibe, lack of romantic development between the main couple, and just a rather boring plot and execution to top it all off.

Essentially, after losing half of our main and supporting characters at the end of book 2, we've acquired a few new characters, too many frankly for the last book of a series, and are attempting to either hightail it away from the Society or come up with a revenge plot that might take Captain Goode out for good. Lol. Well, they decide upon revenge, with Evelyn being the captain of that particular boat, and spend the rest of the book running amok, trying various plans that all fail, until they find one that works.
