Nothing is as it seems. John Carr / Oliver Stone / Ben Thomas is on the run, but unrelated trouble seems to find him... in spades. I like that even under his circumstances, he's still true to himself, looking out for the little guy. In this case, his first soul to save is Danny Ryker, but he's far from the last.
The curves and sharp turns are many and kept me engaged. I did read this previously, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this all over again. The investigator on his trail, Joe Knox, is like a dog with a bone. As much as I didn't want to like him, I admired his tenacity.
Caleb and his fascination with "water dunking" is hilarious. Add that to his proclivity for telling Annabelle some tall tales, and he becomes quite the entertainer.
I borrowed a copy of the audio book. The narrator is Ron McLarty. In addition to liking Ron, I enjoyed the sound effects... except when I was driving and thought some of them were coming from outside the car.
