Autumn Bones by Jacqueline Carey

This series is like potato chips-- addictive and way more fun than it seems like it should be-- even with Norse mythology, fantasy creatures, and more in small-town America. Daisy, the conflicted, half-demon heroine, is fun, but the other characters really make the series. (It's also refreshing to read a book that is not solely reliant on the heroine's ability to fix things with newly developed magic abilities). Also, the lamia makes me incredibly happy. I need more powerful, half-snake women in my life. And also, ghouls.
