The Vanderbeekers to the Rescue by Karina Yan Glaser

5.0

Thanks to the Kid Lit Exchange for the review copy. All opinions are my own.

I just think the VANDERBEEKERS series is full of some of the best middle grade writing out there right now. These books give me all the feels. They are full of friendship, family, and community. What I love most is that they are full of wholesome adventure. Pure fun in every book.

In this third installment, the VANDERBEEKERS TO THE RESCUE, the children try to help their mom achieve her dream of opening a cookie cafe. But every time they try to help, something goes wrong. Their problems are compounded when animals keep mysteriously appearing on their doorstep. Turns out the city inspector does not look kindly on a kitchen full of animals. Not to worry! The Vanderbeekers have a plan, and as usual, they have a Harlem neighborhood full of people willing to step in and help.

I would happily recommend this book, and the entire series, to families looking for fun, feel-good stories featuring loads of creativity and independence. If only we could all grow up on 141st Street!
