Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️stars

There's a lot going on here: selfishness, greed, stupidity, transgression, death, insanity, guilty conscience, solitude, a need for redemption, and love. It's full.

I actually tried to read this, not as an observer, but to place myself in the shoes of Raskolnikov. Ultimately, I fell back into the observation mode. I liked it, to put it generically. It's actually another lesson in sociology that I find interesting.

"It takes something more than intelligence to act intelligently."

"And the more I drink the more I feel it. That’s why I drink too. I try to find sympathy and feeling in drink.... I drink so that I may suffer twice as much!"
Ouch! 💔🤔

"The man who has a conscience suffers whilst acknowledging his sin. That is his punishment-- as well as prison."
