I really liked this book. The relationship between Lowe and Misery had me excited and kicking my feet. I think they had great banter and moments between them that were so cute and sweet. Lowe is definitely a protector, but I liked that he didn’t give off creepy, over-protective. He wants to keep the people he cares for safe, but also recognizes that they have their own autonomy and can make their own decisions. Misery, on her own, was a little bit lacking for me. I don’t really know what to say about her personality aside from a little wet blankety, but she does grow throughout the book and come into her own. I love her relationship and the love she has for her best friend, and I love that her best friend calls her out on her bullshit.

I sort of just skipped over the whole knotting thing. It wasn’t really that major for me and I could sort of ignore it and just read the rest of the book. Was it my favourite? No. Did it really matter to me? Also no. I also could have done without the third act conflict. It seemed very silly to me and, like not really a conflict because I could tell that Lowe was lying, and I think so could Misery. It didn’t really need to be in there but it ended up being such a non-entity, that it wasn’t that annoying in the long run.
