Alive at Night by Amelie Rhys

3.0

Here’s the thing; one trope that I’m not sure I like in romance books is enemies to lovers. I find that it works best with fantasy books or even dark romance because I feel like it’s always never ‘enemies’ to lovers in romance books but ‘a-misunderstanding-happened’ to lovers or ‘dislike’ to love or something of that sort. And this is the case with Alive at Night.

It wasn’t bad by any means but a good chunk of the book focused on this so-called rivalry between Julian and Juniper and in the end it was nothing but miscommunication (my most hated trope unfortunately). And there was also a moment in the book where Julian admitted he liked Juniper, remembered she is his sister’s best friend, backed off in the worst way possible and two chapters later he came back begging after she went on a date with someone else.

I feel like I spent most of the book feeling irritated with the fact they wouldn’t sit down and just talk and I didn’t enjoy the cute moments they had after they did. Overall, the idea of the book was great but I feel like it still needed a bit more work in some parts.
