Rock Chick
3 Stars

The first book in Kristen Ashley's debut series is light and fun, but some of the shenanigans are over the top and ridiculous.

The heroine, Indy Savage, is likable enough although there are moments when the desire to slap her silly is almost overwhelming. Lee Nightingale is alpha and as sexy as they come, and unlike the heroes in KA's later series (Dream Man, Colorado Mountain), he isn't a jerk. In fact, he knows that Indy is the ONE for him and has the patience of a saint when it comes to dealing with her drama.

KA isn't as proficient at writing suspense as she is at romance. Nevertheless, the minor suspense plot revolving around some missing diamonds has potential even if the execution is only so-so -
Spoilerthe mystery of the diamonds remains unresolved
and the number of times that Indy

is absurd.

Despite the above mentioned reservations, Rock Chick is an entertaining read and the writing is certainly more cohesive that KA's later works, which makes me wonder why her more recent books are so long-winded with unnecessary repetition and wordiness.
