The Speed of Sound by Eric Bernt

4.0

What if the echoes of every word ever spoken in a room are continuing to bounce off the walls of that room? What if, with the power of sensitive microphones and super-computers, you could recreate those sounds? And what if there was a government program that exploited super-smart autistic children for their powers?

The Speed of Sound explores a ton of really fascinating questions and does so with great insight and pacing.

The characters are fun, believable and have great development throughout. The villains have obvious motivators driving their decision-making processes. And the writing is crisp (if not, in itself, all that innovative).

Great summer read, warmly recommended.
