Night Broken by Patricia Briggs

Ahh I got a kick out of this story, although I was really stressed out by the Christy thing. It was far more anxiety inducing than any old monster battle! I realized all Mercy’s friends are guys and wished there was less female competition in my fantasy. All the gun talk started to put me on edge, too. I’m loving the development with Coyote, the vampires and the fae, that’s a lot of fun. I really appreciate bringing in folklore from other cultures besides euro ones. It amused me they’re now walking with gods but there’s still “God god.” Some of the toxic masculinity and homophobia in this book (and series, but this book hit it hard) seemed unnecessary- I appreciate making it “real world” but ugh I just wouldn’t hang out with these people. If they’re so homophobic and mysoginstic why are there no other issues like racism or xenophobia? Chosen family means not tolerating a bunch of abusive dill holes.
