The Happy Ever After Playlist by Abby Jimenez

I should learn, since covers clearly indicate genre, that chick lit is not for me. The protagonist is always more or less the same person: manic, frazzled, quirky in a way that the author clearly intends to be endearing, and with some private woe that is meant to make us sympathize with her. It's formulaic, and the character so tired that it feels fake at this point, even if it didn't the first or even the twenty-second time I read/watched it (since it's also the same character that stars in every rom-com). Add a smattering of unnecessary swear words in the first twenty minutes, and I was done.
