Finally! An author has brought the ass kicking heroine found in Adult Urban Fantasy to YA! From the moment that you meet Ari you will never question her ability to take care of herself and Kelly Keaton's new dystopian/supernatural world will leave you wanting ten more books right away!
I'll admit this right here and now. I was not excited to read this book. Not just this book, but pretty much any supernatural/paranormal debuts. Lots of them seem to be uninteresting or unoriginal to me me lately. But from the moment I read the first page of Darkness Becomes Her I was hooked. I was excited. And I stayed that was for the rest of the book!
The world that Keaton has created in this book was, simply put, fantastic! I bet you have never read anything like it! It was a little dystopian-ish--with New 2 being the destroyed and rebuilt New Orleans bought and guarded by the watchful eyes of The Novem--but it's also different because it is filled with vampires, shape shifters, witches, and just about every creature that you can think of, but this is not a vampire book! No, not even close. This book is the start of a series that I think will be brilliant!
This book could have been awesome based on the world alone, but it is also filled to the brim with intriguing characters. Ari, the main character is everything you could ask for! She doesn't take crap from anyone! She's independent and she might just kick your ass....She carries a gun! A GUN! I loved her! All the minor characters and the love interest, Sebastian were also terrific!
Have I convinced you yet? Are you placing a order for this book in another tab right now? You should be! Unless..you know....you don't like action packed, original, good books.....Read it!
