Slow burn, but the character development was good enough to keep things entertaining. I liked Isabel from the previous books already, and that continued here. She's a strong, confident, secure woman who respects herself. It was impossible not to route for her.
Kind of a tough relationship context for me, with the dead spouse and all, which is not my favorite situation... but it worked alright and I felt like the story was told thoughtfully and respectfully to all characters. Aiden's internal struggles felt really believable and I never felt mad or frustrated at him. His honest convo with his mom was really touching.
Still a big fan of the illustrations of what "unconventional" families can look like.

Moderate: Sexual content and Death of parent
Minor: Cancer and Sexual harassment
