It was written with the tones and style of a middle grade book, but the themes and depictions wouldn't be suitable for younger readers. If the writing style had been more advanced, I think I would've enjoyed it more. It also felt more like the set up for the main story, rather than a book in it's own right. I wish the book had been more condensed, to fit in more plot twists, more adventure, more character interactions and development etc. I loved the premise, but compared to Akala's non fiction writing, I felt this fell short.
