I read this story and novel form whenever I was nine or 10 years old, at my grandmother’s house. I didn’t really understand it then, though I thought it was funny. Rereading it as an adult, I understood so much more of them dialogue, and it was hilarious. Shaw’s comedic timing is impeccable. you have to love Higgins as a character, because he’s so enjoyable to read. And you have to love Eliza because she’s a magnificent character, with extraordinary dignity and resilience. I especially liked the ending, and the explanation as to the thought process of the characters.
