Harleen by Stjepan Šejić

dark tense medium-paced

5.0

This is the portrayal of the Joker I find interesting! A man who blurs the lines of truth, using vulnerability like a weapon but still - maybe it's hard to tell - being vulnerable. Baiting his hook with tenderness and reeling in Dr. Quinzel. I'm a huge sucker for stories about fucked up relationships and this was the IDEAL media for that. The slow unraveling of Harleen's good sense, the slow slide into bad decisions, and then the final snap? It's all so good! The writing is delicious as well, and the art is breathtaking. There are some moments of incredible symbolism and metaphor in the art that had me wanting to chew on my phone. Deeply deeply wish Šejić had written more Harley and Joker but alas, this is all for now.
