Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City by Matthew Desmond

5.0

Incredible how much the author accomplishes in just over 300 dense pages. Finely weaves together the hard facts from endless sources and the rich, heartbreaking human lives that contribute to those statistics. Really makes you feel that we need to do better. The epilogue, where the author finally gives his own opinions, was I think wisely saved for the end where the reader can fill in the blanks with each of these person’s stories, and packs a huge punch. Just an astounding piece of work on a fundamentally important problem.
