it seems deeper than it actually is and hypocritical at least.
Spoiler does good really win when she has the same interest as the villagers and the only thing separating one from the other is that the one proposal they are offered is criminal and besides she talked to the stranger before personally so she had an extra chance ? she didn't stand up for viscos and its poor inhabitants who would be condemned forever, or berta who would go flying the sky; she knew good (for her) would be hugely rewarded, even more than evil which would have had a group effect and benefit. she was about to do the same as her neighbours... would she have acted the same if she hadn't known that she would be rewarded ? she isn't no hero, she was only looking for herself, she didn't save no one. if the villagers were offered good in the same conditions would they have been heros as well ? no, they would have been impassive people.
anyways, occasionally, it made me reflect.
