Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes

3.5

3.5 stars

When Sam accidentally picks up Nisha's bag at the gym whilst in a rush, she doesn't realise it but it will bring two women from very different walks of life together in the most unexpected of ways. The bag contains Nisha's special red heels that she needs if she wants to get any sort of settlement from the unexpected divorce that she now faces, left with absolutely nothing. Two women, two strangers, both lives falling apart - can the shoes bring them together and change the paths their lives are currently taking.

Jojo Moyes is one of my absolute favourite authors, I have given most of her books 5 stars, two of which are all time favourites and pre-order everything she releases. Whilst I did enjoy Someone Else's Shoes, I have to admit that I'm a little disappointed. This read like contemporary woman's fiction and, in my opinion was quite generic. It was fun and made me laugh, also peppered with serious points that made me think - but ultimately it did nothing new. I feel like I've read this story before. I was waiting for the twist that tied everything together in that wonderful way that usual features in Jojo Moyes novels but it sort of ended how I expected.

Don't get me wrong I did enjoy this, Sam and her best friend were my favourite characters and I enjoyed their storyline. I never quite warmed to Nisha and although she had her reasons for being angry at the world, the way she spoke to people for 85% of the book was vile.

This was fun, just not one of my favourites by this author unfortunately.
