Thornhedge is prime T. Kingfisher. It is sweet and creepy with a protagonist who is endearing, a bit bumbling, and kind of gross. The book is a retelling of Sleeping Beauty set on its head. Toadling, the main character and the enchantress, is the good guy and Fayette, the Beauty, is horrific. The magical aspects of the story are infused with Kingfisher’s mix of sweet and horror. There is a lot in this novella, and I enjoyed every page.
