action packed! deals with themes of identity, isolation, and environmentalism through sci-fi magical beings. a little more high-concept fantasy that i usually read, but well done. a lot of world building and lore explanation that can feel a bit too much info sometimes, but it’s the first book in a series and their magic world is quite intricate so that’s to be expected.
