My Husband's Lies by Liz Lawler

How well do we really know the person we married?

Kate and Mark have a perfect life—both have careers they love, a dog, friends, and a beautiful young boy. Until Mark is suspected for murder of a flight attendant who used to work with him, and Kate has to decide if she believes in his innocence. But she doesn’t get much time to decide, as he ends up in an accident fighting for his life. Luckily, Mark’s best friend Robert and coworker Olivia offer to stick with Kate and help around the house and look after their son. But who committed the murder? Who hit Mark with their car? What do Robert and Olivia get out of helping Kate?

This was a pretty standard UK based thriller, that I generally enjoyed reading. I thought the person responsible for everything was made extremely obvious early on, and wish there had been more attempt to keep hit hidden or throw us off the trail. It definitely didn’t keep me on the edge of my seat, but it was still well written and an interesting story. However, there were sections and subplots I felt didn’t really add to the story or serve a purpose (such as the subplot with Sophie and Mark) or the big reveal of Olivia’s story with her son (seemed like such a letdown—I was expecting a much bigger catalyst).

If you’re fans of B. A. Paris, you’ll probably like this one! Overall a pretty average thriller but still worth a read.
