The Unbound Witch by Miranda Lyn

4.0

I have to say, I loved the first book, it was exactly what I needed and wanted - perfect combo of witchy-ness, enemies to lovers AND queer romance, friendship and spice, and the second book added one of my favourite tropes - found family.
Other thing I liked in these two novels was the way magic worked, some ritualistic, some instant, and the way of getting the spells was pretty unique, I think. I liked the additions of shifters and wraiths and their kind of magic so to say.
Plot was pretty good, there might have been some parts that got me confused, but we got there in the end. I gotta say, the politics of the world, damn, that's too realistic and it's surprised me. Unfortunately, I can see something like this happening, magic aside, in our world.
I felt so much for Kirsi, how hard it is to lose part, almost all of yourself, and be unable to do anything, but my girl never gave up.

All in all, for a duology I started mostly because people said it was witchy and spicy, I ended up loving the world and characters finding relevance in a lot of things that was dealt with in these novels.
