Dark Lover by J.R. Ward

3.0

description

I found the beginning of the book to be somewhat boring, then again, world building can often times get tedious to read about.

However, once the action got underway, the story picked up speed.

Alternating POV's between so many different characters is not my favorite thing in the world as it can seriously mess up with the flow of the story, and that was the case with Dark Lover. Two, three at most. That's the sweet spot. More POV's than that gets messy. Plus, there's never any mystery if you get to see the story from all possible angles.

As for the story itself, I'm still a little weirded out that Beth got together with her father's best friend. I mean, I get there's crazy longevity and not-aging involved, still, I can't help feeling somewhat uncomfortable. And boy, did Wrath make a 180 from overwhelming lust to overwhelming love. They went from total strangers, to lovers, to being married in no time flat.

Mr. X bored the crap out of me. He was so very bland.

But I'd really like to get to know more about the other members of the brotherhood. For example, what's up with those weird ass names? Are those their actual names or are they nicknames? Why didn't Darius have a whack name for that matter? And how will he come back into the story now that he has reincarnated? What are the different curses the brothers have to deal with? And why were they cursed in the first place? And plenty other questions that aren't coming to me at the moment.

Guess I'll have to keep on reading!
