I think I benefitted from listening to The Secret History as an audiobook, especially as an abridged version. I've heard lots of people say really positive things about it, but knew that as a slightly longer novel, I was unlikely to ever be brave enough to pick it up. I was absolutely absorbed by this audiobook though, I would highly recommend it. I did find the aftermath of the climax a touch predictable and less engaging - at times it was a classic 'dominoes of consequences for the rich white boys after they finally do something that they can't pay their way out of'. Regardless, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
