I adored this book. Not that you reading this would care, but I grew up surrounded by music; listening to it, learning it, playing it, and (trying) to write it. and reading incredibly descriptive phrases of notes on a page trying to articulate the flow and feeling of what the song being written in only words would sound like, a symphony coming to life, or to better phrase it; a cello falling in love with a violin, at the touch of your fingertips and imagining it while reading is truly a powerful gift and Julie Sotto excels at it. This was a work of art, a magnificent 5 star read for me. The chemistry and character building, between all of the musical talent spilling from the pages is enthralling. To be completely honest it was a little difficult to get into reading a book in the 3rd person, especially when a scene is set in a room with 7 people but no one is the “1st” person voice. Nonetheless it got easier throughout and it made the read that much more emotional and reflective. I also appreciated that the duo POV portion wasn’t every other chapter and that Alex’s pov was separated from Gwen’s by “Cello Suite’s” and him growing up battling perfection and pressure by his famous name or what modern society calls a “nepo baby.” Overall, amazing, immaculate, and 10 other synonyms are needed to describe the perfection that is this book.
