Yellowface by R.F. Kuang

5.0

Incredibly not normal about this, the video essay brain mush youtube drama girlies are gonna Love this one

"And this will become, in time, my story once again" is, as an ending line, truly insane. Starting the book with the tag line "This is one hell of a story, it's just not hers to tell" and ending with this line delivered BY June is making my head spin, truly.

Kuang gets a lot of well deserved praise for TPW and Babel but this is her magnum opus to me. TO ME. It hurt to read. It was incredible. Twitter mind numbing discourse finally perfectly preserved in amber. The way the book is paced is so fucked up there's so many parts that you can't look away from. Standing ovation. Modern classic. Insufferable internet discourse that makes me want to tear my fingernails off at its best.
