Overall it feels like not much is happening in this one and what does happen is mostly to be blamed on the characters and their unresolved issues. To be honest, I found it sometimes only annoying when things came back to bite them again.
I understand that after the conflicts of City of Glass were mostly resolved, we now need to set up another villain. What I did not enjoy was feeling like things could have been avoided if the characters only talked properly with each other. I need inevitability, not miscommunication!

Another complaint of mine are the constant POV changes even inside of the chapters that made it really hard to get lost in what's currently happening.

Apart from that however, I did enjoy the reunion with the characters and all the little hints to the "Infernal Devices" trilogy, which I read before moving on to this book. The Shadowhunter world is filling in with details and is now feeling more alive.
