Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

4.0

Gaiman writes in the introduction that he wanted to write a fairy tale for adults, and really, that's what this is, a fairy tale that manages to be darker than anything the Grimms imagined. It's also a beautiful constructed work of art, as the atmosphere and imagery of London Below draw you (and Richard) into a world where everything is starker and the stakes get higher and higher.
