Elevator Pitch by Evelyn Leigh

emotional inspiring

4.0

From the dedication, I knew I was in for something special with Elevator Pitch. Evelyn Leigh has a unique writing style with it’s own rhythm, and it took me a second to settle in, but I eventually vibed with it. There are a lot of heavy topics here, and they’re all handled with a grace and sensitivity that really serves the characters and keeps them from being too surface or one note. The mental health representation, for all the characters, in particular is fantastic.
The spice is fantastic once it’s in full swing, and Greyson is a book lover’s dream partner. A first date picking out whatever you want from a romance bookstore? A full on pleasure dom who pays attention and listens and tells you from jump he wants to captivate you?! Where do I sign up?
One of my favorite parts of this book is the found family that Selah and her friends have created for themselves surrounding their Hapless In Love Book Club with the slogan: “If it ain’t got spice, no dice.” As the first book in this series, there is a decent amount of space given to introducing all the different side characters and foreshadowing potential future plots for them. The way they all show up for each other is really inspirational and aspirational.
I’ve been trying to read a more diverse array of books, and I’m so glad I chose this one. It’s unique and layered, but still broadly entertaining.
Thank you to Evelyn Leigh and Good Girls PR for this ARC opportunity.
