Of Water and Moonlight by Valia Lind

2.0

I don't usually review books, but I wanted to clarify my thoughts on it. The book had a lot of potential, but it felt like there were too many things going on. There are Fae, Shitfters, Witches, Ancients??, multiple types of spellcasting, and I honestly didn't understand most of it. The world wasn't built up during the story; instead it seemed like I was already supposed to know it. That said, I haven't done much research on this series, so perhaps there is a book I'm supposed to read before it. I felt lost and confused throughout the entirety of the book, and I was even disappointed with the banter between the FMC and her love interest. It seemed almost juvenile and would quickly shift from underlying romantic/sexual tension to meaningless angry comments. Overall, the book seemed like it wanted to be Harry Potter (or even Carry On) with werewolves and Fae. I personally didn't enjoy this book, but I did finish it so make of that what you will.
