Red Rising by Pierce Brown
5.0
Pros:
There is so much depth to this story. Between the development of the society, the sciences and general struggle for survival you have characters who dig their way into your heart.
I feel like this is a story that can and should be read multiple times. There is so much going on that it seems like I probably missed things needing to know what would happen next.
Elements of The Hunger Games, Lord of the Flies and probably several other dystopian novels ring through this story as echoes. It doesn’t feel like copying just a truth that these things will always affect humans.
Cons:
I’m a little surprised this isn’t more popular with the masses and/or included in a banned books list. It has all the elements to fit into that done, in my opinion, better than those that are recognized.
