World After picks up immediately after Angelfall. The survivors fear Penryn's sister, Paige. They attempt to capture her, but she escapes and Penryn goes after her. Penryn ends up at the centre of the angels' plan and is horrified. All the while, Raffe searches for his wings, and eventually, Penryn's and Raffe's paths cross again.
After reading some reviews, I was scared that World After wasn't going to live up to all the hype and that it would fall victim to the second book syndrome. It didn't. It wasn't boring as I had seen others label it as, and whilst it's a seemingly similar plot, the two differ dramatically and you are quickly thrust into the action. I found the plot tightly woven and well developed and moved at a quick pace. It didn't fail to please. One of the best post-apocalyptic series I've read and I cannot wait to continue with the series. But June 2014? JUNE?
Anyway, let's continue with the review. The characters. Penryn is one of my all time favourite protagonist, because, seriously? She's pretty damn awesome. And bad-ass. Am I right? Snarky, intelligent, quick thinking, kick-ass, independent. Raffe; tall, dark and handsome. Whilst you didn't see him in person till around the last quarter of the book, you see him through (this could sort of be considered a spoiler, but IDK?) flashbacks and I enjoyed learning a bit about Raffe when he was an archangel and did angely stuff. The secondary characters are also well developed and likeable.
Overall, it was a fantastic read and I would suggest reading Angelfall if you haven't already.
