Finally finished!!

The sequel to A Wizard of Earthsea is a breath of fresh air compared to some modern series. Le Guin is telling the story she wants to tell, without being concerned about living up to fans' expectations or falling into the approved patterns of storytelling. Her writing is unique and touching and, when read with the right mindset, truly astounding.

It took me a long time to read this, partly because I don't think I was in the right mindset for taking it slow and getting at the story/message behind the words. Once I got into it, though, I was hooked. Lots of dog eared pages with quotes and passages that resonate with me, including most notably, "living, being in the world, was a much greater and stranger thing then she had ever dreamed" like YES Ms Le Guin go OFF
