The Democracy Project: A History, a Crisis, a Movement by David Graeber

3.0

By the time I'd finished this, I was far more enamored with Graeber as a person and writer than I was with the book itself. About half of the book is really terrific—namely, the firsthand accounts of Occupy Wall Street and the philosophical examination about the faux-democracy we've found ourselves in and how precisely that came about. The bits about strategy and tactics were a little less intriguing to me; they seemed to be a bit more lackluster and nonspecific, particularly for being instructions to bring about the next epochal shift toward a better world. Still, I'm excited to check out Graeber's other work, particularly Debt, as I think it'll be more to my liking. A decent first taste of a very interesting mind.
