The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore

Did not finish book. Stopped at 51%.

Jeanie takes over Pumpkin Spice Café from her aunt Dot and tries to find herself in this new small town surrounding after years of being an assistant to the executive in a big city. Here she meets all the people who live in Dream Harbor, including a rough-around-the-edges farmer Logan.

The beginning is giving very much ‘Gilmore Girls’ vibes and everything I loved about the show – charming small town, chatty girl, grumpy guy, perfect. However, it has quickly gone downhill for me. The dialogue felt flat, Jeanie and Logan didn’t have any chemistry. If the MMC is going to be taking things slow, I need the first couple interactions to be an outburst of unstoppable passion from him which I felt this lacked. They sort of made out and then did nothing for a week, then sort of made out again.

I was looking forward to reading this so much and was disappointed at how the story has bored me. I might give it another go next year. For now - DNF @ 51%
